Returns Policy

Thanks so much for shopping with One Summer Lane. We design and ship every piece from sunny Brisbane, and we want you to feel like a perfect ten the moment you step into your suit. If something isn't quite right, this page walks you through how returns and exchanges work — and what your rights are under Australian Consumer Law.

Your Rights Under Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

Under the ACL, our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure (for example, a manufacturing fault, a safety issue, or a product significantly different from the description). You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Return Window

We accept returns and exchanges on eligible items within 14 days of delivery (based on the date marked "delivered" by Australia Post tracking). Returns received outside this window may be declined or offered store credit at our discretion.

Eligibility Conditions

For hygiene and health reasons, swimwear can only be accepted back if it meets all of the following conditions:

  • Unworn, unwashed and in original, resaleable condition
  • The hygiene liner is intact and has not been removed or tampered with
  • All original swing tags are attached
  • Returned in the original packaging
  • Free from any marks — including makeup, fake tan, deodorant, sunscreen, perfume or body oils
  • Bottoms must only be tried on over your own underwear — we cannot accept items that have been tried on without underwear, for obvious hygiene reasons
  • Free from any signs of wear (pulls, stretching, snags, hair, sand, chlorine or salt water exposure)

We inspect every return on arrival. If an item doesn't meet these conditions, we'll be in touch and may need to return it to you at your cost.

Items That Cannot Be Returned

The following are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged (except where required by Australian Consumer Law):

  • Items marked as Final Sale, Sample Sale, or purchased with a discount of 25% or more
  • Gift cards
  • Items damaged after delivery through customer wear, washing or misuse
  • Items returned without their hygiene liner, tags or original packaging
  • Items returned outside the 14-day window

Faulty or Incorrect Items

We take quality seriously, but every now and then something slips through. If your item arrives faulty, damaged in transit, or isn't what you ordered, please email hello@onesummerlane.com within 7 days of delivery with:

  • Your order number
  • A short description of the issue
  • Clear photos of the fault (and the swing tag, if still attached)

If we agree the item has a major fault under the ACL, you may choose between a refund, replacement or repair, and we will cover the cost of return shipping. For minor faults, we may choose to repair, replace or refund the item in line with our obligations under the ACL.

How to Initiate a Return

  1. Email us at hello@onesummerlane.com within 14 days of delivery with your order number and the reason for return.
  2. We'll reply within 1–2 business days with a Return Authorisation (RA) number and our return address in Brisbane.
  3. Pack your item securely with the hygiene liner intact, tags attached and original packaging. Include your RA number inside the parcel.
  4. Send your return via a tracked Australia Post service — we recommend keeping your tracking number until your return is processed.

Returns sent without a Return Authorisation number may be delayed or refused.

Return Shipping

Return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility for change-of-mind returns and exchanges. We strongly recommend using a tracked service, as we cannot be responsible for parcels lost in transit on the way back to us.

Original shipping charges are non-refundable, except where the return is the result of a fault or our error.

If your item is faulty or incorrect, we will cover return shipping — we'll either send you a prepaid label or reimburse a reasonable tracked-shipping cost.

Refund Timing

Once we receive your return and confirm it meets the eligibility conditions above, we'll process your refund or store credit within 5–10 business days.

Refunds are issued to your original payment method. Depending on your bank or card issuer, it can take a further 3–5 business days for the funds to appear in your account.

We'll send you an email as soon as your refund is on its way.

Exchanges

We're a small team and stock moves quickly, so we can't always guarantee a like-for-like exchange. Where possible, we're happy to swap your item for a different size or colour in the same style — just let us know your preference when you email us.

If your preferred size or style isn't available, we'll offer you a store credit valid for 12 months from issue, or a refund (where eligible). The customer is responsible for shipping the original item back to us; we'll cover the shipping cost of sending the exchange piece out to you within Australia.

International Returns

We currently ship within Australia only, so international returns aren't applicable just yet. Stay tuned.
